It Takes a Library to Raise a Community.

Welcoming more than 100 million visitors each year, Ontario’s public libraries are valuable community hubs. In Northern Ontario public libraries rely on Ontario Library Service - North (OLS-North) for help developing and delivering vital community services. Many libraries depend on OLS-North for crucial training, technology and consulting - even the software that allows them to check books in and out!

Due to cuts announced in the 2019-2020 Provincial Budget OLS-North has lost 50% of their operating funding. This has resulted in staff layoffs, the loss of programs and a reduction in services that Northern Ontario libraries rely on. These cuts will have a negative impact on libraries across the North, particularly in small, rural, and Indigenous communities.
